Singapore’s first ever blog to be gazetted as a political organisation, The Online Citizen (TOC) has to apply for at least 3 licenses if it wants to party, says the police.
The planned party, themed ‘TOC Cassetted – Not a Political Party’ will be held on 29th January 2011 from 1930 hours to 2230 hours at Post Museum 107+109 Rowell Road.
It will be a fund-raising event filled with fun and games and members of the public will be invited to make public donations, according to a statement on its site.
Although Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong is also invited in “appreciation” of “(making) TOC into what it is today”, the police wants TOC to apply for Public Entertainment License, the house to house and street collections license, and a notification to conduct a lucky draw under the house gaming rules.
From the look of things, whether PM Lee gets to party or not will have to depend on the outcome of TOC’s application.
The police assured that it would let TOC know if the applications are successful before the event.
