SINGAPORE: Have fun but stay safe -- that is the message police are telling revellers as they hit the nightclubs this festive season.

Authorities launched the "Safe Clubbing Campaign" on Tuesday evening, aimed at getting club patrons to maintain vigilance as they party.

The campaign was kicked off by Chairman of the Government Parliamentary Committee for Culture, Community and Youth, Baey Yam Keng.

It focuses on crime prevention against three common offences associated with entertainment outlets -- molest, theft and fighting.

The Butter Factory, Zouk, Mink and St James Power Station are the nightclubs involved in spreading the word on crime prevention.

Mr Baey said: "As we usher in the festive season, a lot of young people, a lot of Singaporeans like to go clubbing. I think it is great to have fun and the nightlife industry is getting very exciting. But at the same time, you also need to party responsibly, and also take care of yourselves and take care of other people." - CNA/gn
