Clarify procedures for traffic offence

From Tan Beng Soon

I am perplexed by the Attorney-General's Chambers' explanation that Dr Woffles Wu "did not give any information to the police", as reported in "AGC explains charges against Woffles Wu" (June 18).

Is it not mandatory for the registered owner of a car involved in a traffic offence to declare to the traffic police who drove his car? Surely the police must have contacted Dr Wu to ascertain who the driver was. How was it that his employee responded instead?

It is important that these points be clarified, as traffic offences are a daily occurrence and offenders must be guided correctly with regard to the law.
