Police seize weapons from flat during raid
BUKIT MERTAJAM: Police seized a hand grenade, bullets and a samurai sword from a flat in Machang Bubok here.
Four men and two women, aged between 21 and 48, were also nabbed during the raid.
Acting upon information, a police team from the Narcotics division of the Central Seberang Prai district headquarters raided the Impian Indah Flat at about 1.30am yesterday.
They recovered a hand grenade, 20 bullets, and a samurai sword inside one of the rooms.
A police source said the six suspects were remanded for six days until Friday to facilitate investigations.
Police are investigating the case under Section 8 of the Explosives Act 1957, Section 8(a) of the Firearms Act 1960 and Section 7(1)(a) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958.
Several neighbours said they had noticed men and women of various nationalities going in and out of the flat.
