SINGAPORE: Police arrested three individuals who are believed to be involved in selling and distributing pirated goods.

Some 176,000 pieces of counterfeit items worth more than S$1 million were seized in the 40-hour operation which began on Sunday.

Among them, fake Angry Birds and Doraemon toys and stationery.

The trio - two men and one woman aged between 45 and 53 - were arrested after months of extensive intelligence work by the Criminal Investigation Department.

During the operation, police raided various locations, including make-shift stalls in Choa Chu Kang and Bedok.

A store room in Joo Seng Road, which was a major supply centre for the goods, was also raided.

Anyone found guilty of selling or distributing counterfeit goods could be fined up to S$100,000, or jailed up to five years or both.
