Police remind shoppers to be vigilant during Great Singapore Sale

SINGAPORE: The Great Singapore Sale starts on Friday and the police are reminding shoppers to be extra vigilant so as not to become victims of crime.
Police are advising the public to safeguard their belongings especially in crowded shopping malls.
Shoppers should avoid exposing cash, valuables or jewellery in public areas as this might draw unnecessary attention. Valuables should also not be left unattended on trolleys or strollers.
Parents should not let their children wear excessive gold jewellery as they are easy targets for potential criminals.
Retail outlets are also reminded to implement measures to reduce shop theft incidents including installing CCTVs with recording system and deploying adequate security personnel to patrol the premises.
Female shoppers are advised to stay vigilant against those who may take the opportunity to commit sexual offences, such as outrage of modesty.
They should be wary of strangers who approach them in crowded areas and should stay close to their friends or move around in groups when in crowded places.
They should also not take naps when travelling on public transport.
