Police nab mobile phone snatch-thief

SINGAPORE - Police have arrested a 37-year-old man for robbing a female victim of her mobile phone around Redhill.
On May 16 at about 11.10 am, an 18-year-old female victim and her friend were walking in the vicinity of Redhill Road when a man came from behind and snatched her mobile phone valued at about $950.
The man then fled with the mobile phone towards Lengkok Bahru housing estate. The victim immediately called the Police.
Officers from Clementi Police Division promptly arrived at scene within minutes and conducted an extensive search at Lengkok Bahru, Bukit Merah Central and its vicinity.
They spotted and arrested the suspect at Bukit Merah Central at about 1.30 pm. A mobile phone, which belonged to the victim, was recovered and seized.
The suspect will be charged in Court on May 18 for the offence of Robbery under Section 392 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries a maximum of 14 years’ imprisonment.
