SINGAPORE : Police have nabbed a 19 year old believed to be responsible for a series of break-ins in the Jurong West and Boon Lay housing estates.
It is believed that the suspect had entered the flats by walking along the ledge from the stairway and climbing into the kitchen windows to commit theft, while the unsuspecting occupants were fast asleep in their flats.
The suspect was finally spotted early Friday morning at the void deck of Block 692 Jurong West Street 72 during a police ambush.
Officers conducted a search, and found in his possession stolen loot consisting of a wallet, three handphones and a packet of cigarettes.
The youth will be charged in court on Saturday. If convicted, he could be jailed up to 14 years.
