Police arrest rental scammer

SINGAPORE: Police have arrested a man believed to be involved in at least five cases of rental scams in which he cheated about S$20,000 in rental deposits.
The 38-year-old man was arrested on August 1 around Lorong Lew Lian after a woman lodged a police report.
She had paid the suspect a rental deposit of S$1,000 for a unit, and subsequently found that a friend of hers was also negotiating with the suspect to rent the same unit.
The suspect will be charged with cheating on August 3, and faces imprisonment of up to 10 years and a fine.
