when you catch one with high cp, accumulate more candies by catching same type to evolve it. evolution alone can increase its cp to over 1000 while power up is at small increments from 20 to 50 cp points.

LOL high cp doesn't mean they are harder or take longer time to beat... i beat snorlax, dragonite, two of the popular pokemons using lower cp but with the right pokemon and iv LOL LOL
LOL this is where many first timers made mistakes by heaping stardusts and candies on their favorite pokemons at early stages, only to catch the same pokemon with higher cp when their trainer xp level up LOL LOL
LOL kiasu players think that they can hold on to a gym by putting hot favorites dragonite and snorlax with high cp ..... but advantage lies with gym challenger.... use the right pokemons to beat the shit out of them LOL LOL
