PAP candidate Koh Poh Koon will wait for the Prime Minister to decide how he should contribute in the days ahead, but branch activists at Punggol East will continue to serve residents in the ward.

Asked about his plans after his by-election loss, Dr Koh told reporters Sunday morning: "Obviously, after this, we need to sit down and look at the results and think deeper.

"So I will await what the PM has decided before seeing where else I can contribute."

As for the lesson he learnt, he said: "The important thing is to have a good, strong team and to continue to be sincere with residents.

"I think we have garnered 43 per cent of the votes having been on the ground for two weeks, I think that wasn't too bad."

Here's an individual that has publicly professed to care about the welfare of the people of PE. But after his election defeat, he has lost that desire to serve the people. Instead, he must be told by LHL on his next step. So much for an individual of calibre. And sadly, he is also a CO in the reserves!

His snobbish talk about everybody having a car and he has 2, will definitely not go down well with the average Sinkies, who can hardly even afford the COE. By directly avoiding the issue of unrestricted use of Medisave for those aged above 75 years (as proposed by LLL) is another shot in his own foot.

Overall, he may be a good doctor, but not necessary a capable politician.

What nonsense. All the 4 candidates were given the same time for the 9 days from nomination to polling day. None of them is short-changed. Koh just doesn't have the political acumen. He spoke with a sense of arrogance and that is just one of his own downfall. One doesn't need to boast about not needing sympathy votes, having 2 cars, etc, in your press interviews, even if they are the truths.

Frankly if you can't even read the ground sentiments, how to be a good MP? This is what most of the PAPies MPs lack presently.

Handsome, needs a personal groomer, for a doctor, he sure look shabby, I would mistaken him for the neighbourhood provision store owner, he need to attend courses on dealing with public, not those patients he sees, with with the broad spectrum of people. Want to lie that he is from a humble backgorund or anact 'good deeds' in public but cleaning an over flowing gutter covered in leaves, do it convincingly , & lie properly.
