Not many people are aware that Qantas tie-up with Emirates has major repercussions to SIA Engineering, CIAS, SATS, Tourism and business sectors.

Its is probably the single biggest event since we lost 2 major shipping lines to Johor.

NZ which only had Chan Brothers as a major partner and neglected by the Singapore Government is suddenly trying to be the Kiwis new best friend.

Qantas is Changi Airport's single biggest customer after SIA. With Dubai replacing Changi, it not only the reductions in flights and passengers, we are talking about engineering maintenance contracts, food catering, laundry and many other services.

Good luck.

Same mistakes made at PSA are being repeated again?

Other than cheap fuel stop, Dubai not a good place to transit at. Food and drinks are expensive. Run by poorly paid, under staffed foreigners. Saw ground staff throwing bags onto the tarmac. Qantas must be going bankrupt or becoming uncompetitive. Only 4 flights are affected (MEL 1, SYD 3). No biggie.

cutting cost measure to save itself. it forecasted a 90% drop in profits in june, and the stock tanked 30%. it's going extinct.

Poor planning, poor foresight and cocky attitude. Singaporeans know PAP better than anyone in the world.

Or is it anything to do with our political make-up....

An authoritarian state where the dafts are easily swayed, controlled, manipulated..with the 154th press...A tiny state that has still the ISA, akin to North Korea

Others see it differently..they want to do business with a more friendly, less arrogant and democratic entity.

I note the kiwis and the Aussie made their stand very clear...they will not stop and not hesitate to right any wrongs.

Kudos to them for bringing Tigers airlines to their knees with hefty fines...
