PM Lee's full statement on WP's refusal to investigate further

I would restrain launching or going attack mode against Pappies, because these are the entrapment for the popular WP.

Yes, need to be careful. The PM has backed VB up. IF WP issues denials outside parliament they will be sued for saying PM and VB are not telling the truth. Conspicuous waiver of parliamentary privilege is sinister. WP should just keep quiet. Move on, move on.

Haha...LTK is smart enough not to sue VB.Otherwise,we will see a by election again. Why dun they organise a dialogue with the hawkers together with VB and the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the town council.Air it live and let's the public decide.Sometime I wonder whether the PAP had asked themselves why the were not elected in Aljunied and the last by election? If they carry on to behave this way,the 2016 election will see more opposition members in parliament

The PM should understand Singaporeans are sick of these high school theatrics. The " Sue you, sue me" antics are out of date. Everybody understands all politicians are economical with the truth when it suits them. The WP has been in the public eye a long time. One or two incidents will not change the perception no matter how loud the MSM media shouts. The PAP is also well understood by the public. When it comes to issues of integrity, character and shall we say courage the public knows the score. Singapore has much bigger problems. The guy at the steering wheel needs to keep his eye on the road.

Two comments:

As someone else has already asked, 'why hasn't the "dossier" been published?' If it's so damning, let us decide.

In the lead up to this sorry 'debate', SL and PS have said enough to suggest dishonesty on the part of NEA officials and even VB. Why hasn't VB sued? If he's not willing to clear his name, should we not doubt his integrity?

I'm sure most locals disagree with what the son is saying.
He forgot to mention that good politics is first and foremost about accountability - elected officials are accountable to the people who vote for them and should resign when they fail to do their jobs eg over budget for YOG, failure to solve haze, dengue and flood problems.

Singapore has succeeded not only because of politicians- but because of the hard work and sweat of the people. This is most disrespectful to our parents and grandparents generations.

If uphold the public interest means to let in poor quality foreigners with fake qualifications -we can do without such people.

Admitting to mistakes when things go wrong and still continuing to cling on to million dollars salaries is not what the locals want-we want people who not only admit to mistakes BUT ARE HONEST ENOUGH TO RESIGN. Why is the guy who is responsible for making housing unaffordable for locals still an MP or responsible for Mas Selamat's escape holding govt appointed post and enjoying high pensions ?

If to build the nation and improved everyone's lives means giving special privilege (including reserving 20% of places in universities/schools to foreigners) and bringing in foreigners to replace locals in PMET's jobs-these guys should be kicked out in the elections.
Safeguarding public funds means to call losing billions in investments long term investments ?
To put public interest ahead of personal gain means to pay themselves millions so as not to be corrupt?
To to make decisions affecting the well-being and security of Singaporeans means to exempt first generation new citizens/PR's from NS and 2nd gen PR to denounce to escape NS ?

If we come to expect these in politics- its a tragedy indeed.
