SINGAPORE: Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong met his Australian counterpart Julia Gillard on the sidelines of the APEC summit.

They had broad discussions on the global economy, regional architecture, Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and climate change.

Mr Lee also met Google CEO Eric Schmidt and Director of Google Ideas Jared Cohen, who are co-authoring a book on how technology is altering the world. They discussed a range of topics, ranging from educational systems to the influence of social media on the relationship between governments and citizens.

Later in the evening, Mr Lee was hosted to a private dinner by the Mr Teimour Riahi, CEO of airline company Transair. The event was an opportunity for Mr Lee to engage business leaders in an informal setting.

Separately, Singapore's Minister for Foreign Affairs and Law, K Shanmugam, attended the APEC Ministerial Meeting on Friday co-chaired by US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and US Trade Representative Ambassador Ron Kirk.............
