Singapore must continue to uphold its reputation as a competitive and dynamic city worth investors paying a premium for, even if it is not necessarily the cheapest. This was Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's call yesterday at the May Day Rally, in which he said attracting quality investments and creating better jobs are key to growing the economy.
For the past 20 years, the PAP has adopted the cheapest model and thus how total dependency on cheap foreign labour. Now, it is clueless on how to turn it around as so much of the PAP's fortune is tied to the influx of foreigners. That's why LHL and his ministers are just making broad statements which on closer examination show up as empty of any substance or ideas.
But as the country tightens up on foreign hires, Mr Lee said it has to be "very careful" to remain a competitive place for doing business. "If we make it difficult for companies to get the skills and talent they need, they will go elsewhere," he said.
This is an admission that that the sinkapore's education system has failed. Why isn't our system able to produce the skills and talents needed?
Secondly, it is another admission that sinkapore is incapable of producing world-class companies. The PAP is still depending on foreign companies to create jobs. That policy has been in place since independence. While other developed countries have global companies, sinkapore has zero. Why?
While Mr Lee acknowledged that Singapore's situation was "not perfect", he said "we have many strengths that others lack, whether it's a well-educated workforce, a high international reputation or adequate reserves".
LHL contradicts himself ...if we have a well-educated workforce, why do we need to import millions of PMET?????
What's sinkapore's reputation - it is a playground for foreigners, foreigners can have total freedom to bash sinkees, to discriminate against sinkees and entitled to be treated as a higher beings.
Reserves - who knows how much we have. It is total secrecy.
