To a question on whether the Whip would be lifted more often, Mr Lee said that it depends on the issues. He said the Whip will be lifted if it is an issue of conscience, but party discipline will need to be followed on policy matters.

Translation - other than matters of conscience (what is that, by the way?), MPs will vote on Party lines. So, why would any PAP MP bother to think? Just wait for the Whip's instruction via email and then shout "AYE loud and clear at the appropriate time. Why for the likes of me I do not understand, you do not really need a lot of tea-parties with Bargain Hen to recruit the cream of the creamiest. And that is why you should not be upset with Tin Pei Ling being in Parliament. It is not a difficult job and one can collect a warehouse-full of Kate Spades at the end of five years.
