Unfortunately I'm running Windows 8. It has a built-in "steps recorder" but not video recording.

A search on Google throws up many free software. I'm looking for something like what Amos Yee did with that LKY video.

Are you using a free screen recorder too ?

you mean video editor?
a screen recorder only records the screen
but a video editor lets u arrange your videos and put in all sorts of things on the 'timeline'

screen capture
-bandicam

video editor

No I wasn't referring to video editor.

I'm referring to the ability to video whatever that is happening on the screen - in video mode. Just like those "how-to-do" videos on YouTube channels. Not sure what software most people use and whether it's free. Of course, it'd be better if the screen recorder comes with video editor.

The term screen capture is misleading. It covers static screen capture as well.

try this, can record screen and download videos.

If you are an Android user, use Linux, you won't look back.
