SINGAPORE — A 39-year-old Singaporean man has been arrested by Vietnamese authorities for allegedly transporting 10kg of crystal meth, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
Cher Wei Han and Vietnamese Duong Hung Tam, 36, were taken into custody on Saturday (29 June) at the Vietnam-Cambodia border.
The duo were reportedly travelling in a Toyota Corolla Altis when border guards in the southern province of Tay Ninh stopped them. A search of the vehicle led to the drugs being uncovered, said local media reports.
The drugs are thought to be worth US$3,450 (S$4,670).
In Vietnam, those found guilty of smuggling more than 600g of heroin or more than 2.5kg of methamphetamine may be sentenced to the death penalty.
