Even with VW and TJS then with all the sympathy votes they could not win over Holland Bt Timah. SDP fortunes might change by next GE, but that GRC is still PAP stronghold as the leaders of commerce and industry benefit from PAP's pro-business policies still.

Who knows what the future may hold when other interest groups start to gravitate towards SDP? Like ticks to fart! People have short memories, by GE2016 they would have forgotten about the whole episode. SDP would be able to field quite a formidable team by then. One GRC I say, but which one? :*:

Unless SDP gets more mainstream they will continue to be ostracized. They realize that by now. Press releases getting much better and more pro-Singaporean. But still lots of tidying up.

International conferences -- keep it to a minimum and don't over publicize. Very few think well of a party that does all that.

Same with all the talk of opposition unity and cooperation. People don't buy that line as they still see SDP as a party with a history of anti-social acts and lack of sportsmanship with other oppositions.

SDP also cannot just mine a narrow segment for candidates. They need to get broad spectrum of candidates. Note that TJS/Michelle/AYG may not repeat again in 2016. They need to build capacity now and that means getting a slew of people from diverse background not just the fancy-free liberals.

SDP has constant stream of ultra liberals coming their way, not to mention the frequent overseas speech and conference trips. They certainly feel the love from all the fringe groups. The election every 4 years is just a distraction for SDP.

VW has mentioned the circumstances under which Vasoo got CSJ kicked out of NUS. Perhaps it was just an obscure part of his long Facebook rant that I hadn't paid attention to. Now Vasoo has upped the stakes and sued Wijeysingha jr. What has been achieved?

1. Everybody sees VW being sued and thinks that he is somehow untrustworthy because of that.
2. Everybody suddenly gets reminded of PAP's ugly knuckleduster tactics of the past, around the time when they are mulling over whether to soften their image.

PAP did not sue anybody in the immediate aftermath of 2011, the first election cycle since 1991 that something like this has happened. What is their strategy? The old bad strategy, or new kinder gentler strategy, or they don't even know what the fuck they're doing?
