Places you should never go in China...

Re: Tiong's swimming pools contains 90% urine

I like what you just said, "Organic Lifestyle"

I know what you're thinking "Organic Lifestyle"

I recommend not to go to Hua Shan unless one is a martial arts pugilist and wants to discuss about swords there.

I think streetsmart recommended Huang Shan (yellow mountain).
Want to go Hua Shan, might as well go Wudang Shan, at least there we might get to meet the 300 year old Zhang Sanfeng and Zhangu Wuji and Zhao Min may be there too. :D

Hahaha, scary though, looking at the chains one must hold on to as well as the steps up. Respect to the men who crafted the way up.
I saw updates that is is much better now but still not something i would bring my old folks to.

All taking about 山...
Anyone know where is 光明顶?
On top of 光明山?

Lovely place! You might even find the 257th generation Hua Shan ZhangMeng here.

Exactly, looking at that website and its pictures, some places are obviously more for the professionals. Almost lost my life enroute
back from Yosemite so probably not so adventurous these days.

there are so much beauty in china. and yet you all choose to show the ugly part. every country has its ugly side. but i personally feel china has abundant beauty and nature for anyone.

don't be so despicable and contemptuous of china - the rising dragon under heaven. you don't have to go to the backwaters. china has other beautiful places which you should visit.

don't despise china. do so at your own peril.

You question made me go and look at wikipedia for the answers. Interestingly, there's also a bright peak on Huang Shan, but that's not where the fictional Ming sect was supposed to be located.

"The Ming Cult (Chinese: 明教; pinyin: Míng Jiào; literally "Religion of Light") is a fictional cult and martial arts sect featured in Jin Yong's wuxia novel The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber and briefly mentioned in The Legend of the Condor Heroes. It is based on the actual Gnostic religion Manichaeism. The cult is based on Bright Peak in the Kunlun Mountains and has several other bases spread throughout the land. Its best known skills are the Heaven and Earth Great Shift (乾坤大挪移) and the Martial Arts of the Holy Flame Tablets (聖火令武功)."

"The Huangshan mountain range has many peaks, some more than 1,000 meters (3,250 feet) high.[7] The three tallest and best-known peaks are Lotus Peak (Lian Hua Feng, 1,864 m), Bright Summit Peak (Guang Ming Ding, 1,840 m), and Celestial Peak (Tian Du Feng, literally Capital of Heaven Peak, 1,829 m)."

Definitely not for me, as in i meant not contempt for China. Hua Shan/Huang Shan is very beautiful. Speaking of places, your moniker reminds me of the "Hei Feng Dong"

Huangshan is one of the most beautiful mountains under heaven. There is no other mountain that is as beautiful as Huangshan...IMHO.

Connection to real-life Manichaeism
The names Ming Jiao (明教, i.e. "Religion of Light") and Moni Jiao (摩尼教, i.e. "Religion of Mani") were used in real-life Song China to describe Chinese adherents of Manichaeism.

The blazing holy flame burns my withered body. Life is lamentable, but death is also painful. Do good and exterminate evil, only with the brightness we can. Joy or sorrow, they will all become dirt and dust eventually. Pity the people of my world, indeed they face many hardships! Pity the people of my world, indeed they face many hardships!
