娄底涟源市石马山派出所接到居民报警称：石马山镇龙峰村有位老人在河边徘徊，怕有危险，请求出警。
民警立即赶往现场，发现老人正拿着百元大钞在河里洗，民警立即将老人带离河边。经过简单的沟通，民警发现老人操外地口音，手中提着的麻袋中竟装满了百元现金，初步估算有近十万元。
民警欲将老人带往派出所继续了解情况，但老人精神恍惚，认为民警与他人会对其有所图，民警给的食物、水、雨伞，老人均不接受，更不愿跟民警回派出所。
老人身携巨款，天又下着雨，民警担心其人身安全，只好一面开着警车跟在老人身后，一边对他进行劝解。在4名工作人员轮番劝说了一个半小时后，老人终于愿意上警车，跟民警回到石马山派出所。
经询问，老人可以清楚地说出自己的姓名、年龄，民警根据其提供的信息联系到其家人。家人反映，老人是上海市青浦区人，67岁，至今未婚，有精神病史，但可以与其进行简单沟通。
老人说，自己离开上海前将所有积蓄全部取出，准备独自一人乘火车从上海前往昆明，但到了湖南涟源附近时旧病发作，认为火车上有人抢钱，他感到害怕，便从火车上下来，在涟源流浪了5天，直到被居民发现。
随后民警将老人送往涟源市救助站，经过民警与救助站工作人员一起清点，老人随身携带的现金有11.9万余元。目前救助站工作人员已联系到他的家人，将由救助站送其回家。
