British navy officers have discovered a new use for Britney Spears' chart-topping hits: As wards against Somali pirates.
According to a report in The Straits Times Communities, Spears' famous Baby One More Time and Oops! I Did It Again have been tried and proven effective against kidnapping attempts by the 'western culture-hating' pirates.
"Her songs were chosen by the security team because they thought the pirates would hate them most. These guys can't stand Western culture or music, making Britney's hits perfect," says Second Officer Owens, who works on supertankers off the east coast of Africa.
Ms Owens say that pointing the speakers to the pirates have discouraged them from coming onboard and that they rarely need to fire the guns anymore.
