Caste systems were formed based on the amount native and black 'blood' which persist to this day. Discrimination and repression were the hallmarks of Spanish rule. Google 'black legend'.

Besides killing millions of native Americans by importing flu and smallpox, they pioneered slavery in the Americas, and when the Hispaniola slaves all dropped dead they imported more slaves from Africa. 1/3 of males slaves died every 6 months in mining camps.
