Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong is warning Singaporeans against growing anti-immigrant sentiment sparked by recent insults by a Chinese student.

Perhaps it's time that every foreigner who is given new citizenship, pr or employment pass is "attached" to one of the ministars or mos.
The ministar or mos and their families will have dinner with one of these foreigners and their families every weekend.
Every time one of these foreigners causes trouble or breaks a law, espeically when it harms someone, the ministar or mos will have to step forward to explain and be accountable.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Wednesday identified two societal trends that worries him: A 'self-centred' Not-In-My-Backyard syndrome that has been increasingly seen among some vocal Singaporeans, and what appears to be a growing gap between Singaporeans and new immigrants.
In an interview at the end of the 20th Asean Summit in Phnom Penh, he raised his concerns about these two trends, and cited the example of angry reactions to Chinese student Sun Xu who has apologised for derogatory comments about Singaporeans.
While he acknowledged that the student's remarks were uncalled for, he urged Singaporeans to maintain 'a certain balance and not get worked up every time someone misspeaks'.
Said Mr Lee: 'He shouldn't have made that blog post. He did. He has been chastised, he has been disciplined, he has expressed his contrition, he's sorry about it. We should have been able to move on from that and deal with it as one person who misspoke. We should not, because of one incident, make that into an issue, (to say) all immigrants are like that.'

If PM Lee sees himself as some kind of seer with all this talk of trends, why didn’t he, as the world’s highest paid Prime Minister, see the ensuing problems that come with a tsunami of foreigners on our shores? His Ministers, the highest paid in the world as well, also failed in this respect.
Instead of blaming Singaporeans while overseas, PM Lee should address the concerns of Singaporeans with a greater sense of urgency and sincerity.

He and his "elite" team are no better than any government officials in any developed country. They are just benefiting from the salary precedent set by Emperor Lee, and basking in this elitist aura that he created. None of them have the courage or scruples to stop this nonsense. Each one is milking the cash cow for what its worth, while they are able to.
How quickly he has forgotten his near tears apology to Sporeans. The spots stay on the leopard. Its up to the Sporean to develop a memory, which over the years, has been improving but at a snail's pace.
