Gst shd be remove from all basic household neccessities and subsidies these food items that are essential for the middle and lower income group. What's the point of collectiing these taxes doesn't make sense when people are struggling to make ends meet just to put food on the table. Its a vicious circle, you end up giving out food stamps, food aid, and other type of needy assistance at the end. This is not gonna to solve the problem. Its as good as no tax at all.

For an open economy like Singapore, you remove the GST and Singaporeans will be literally subsidising the 1 million non-Singaporeans working and living here, and the 12 million tourists visiting the country every year. Better to collect the GST and re-distribute the revenue back to Singaporeans in the form of GST rebates, Growth packages, etc.

GSTs in some countries are much higher such as Australia is 10% and Britain (VAT) is 20%.
Malaysia is planning to introduce it after the election if Barisan comes to power again. So higher prices if you go there to shop, eat and pump petrol.

Geylang fucks are already 'subsidised' as they have not increase their prices for donkey years. Even the girls are complaining to me that the prices are really quite low and not much difference from their homeland China - which is why many have gone back after after working just a few months here
