Organisers of the annual Pink Dot gathering this Saturday (June 28) to support the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community will be deploying security personnel at the Speakers’ Corner for the first time, in light of the public opposition from some groups that has surfaced in the lead-up to the event, which is into its sixth year.

In an interview with TODAY, Pink Dot spokesman Paerin Choa said on Wednesday that the security arrangements were put in place for crowd control and to manage any unruly behaviour given recent developments. He said: “If (those who oppose the event) do come down, we will welcome them with open arms. We’re aware that they might come down and have a crisis management plan in place ... We’ve also engaged security personnel, but more because of potential crowd issues.”

Earlier this month, an Islamic religious teacher, Mr Noor Deros, started a Wear White campaign calling on Muslims to wear white this Saturday to protest against homosexuality. Since then, the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore and the Catholic Church have put forward their views on the LGBT issue, with the National Council of Churches of Singapore the latest to chime in on Wednesday.

Faith Community Baptist Church senior pastor Lawrence Khong, who has been outspoken on the issue, also voiced his support for the Wear White campaign, and went as far as to say that it was time for the church and like-minded groups, such as Muslims, to oppose Pink Dot. Mr Khong had claimed that Pink Dot is part of a “game plan” – some 20 years in the making – by the LGBT community to “normalise” homosexuality here.

Statement from national council of churches :

The current discourse on LGBT prompted by the intention of the LGBT community to hold a Pink Dot picnic on 28 June 2014 has generated strong reactions among Singaporeans, including Christians.

In the interest of clearing up the matter concerning human sexuality for members of the Christian public who may be confused, the NCCS would like to reiterate the Christian view that homosexual or bi-sexual practices are contrary to the teaching of the Bible. The Council holds that the only sexual relationship sanctioned by God and given as a gift from God is that between a male and a female within the bounds of a monogamous marriage.

The Council also wishes to state that while it does not condone homosexual or bi-sexual practices, it also does not condemn those who are struggling with their gender identity and sexual orientation.

The Council therefore urges members of the Christian community to always act with grace and restraint should they engage with the LGBT community over the coming event.

A muslim's view :

Muslims in Singapore are making history because they are unite together to #wearwhite to fight against the LGBT agenda, especially as they lack respect for Islam by holding Pink Dot on the first night of our holy month of Ramadan. Since they are holding Pink Dot on the first Ramadan night where devouts Muslims are doing their terawih prayers, it is a provocation by the LGBTs that shows their disdain and disrespect for Islam. It is clear that #wearwhite is not a political campaign, but the result of Muslim resentment and anger at the provocative and disrespectful tactics by the LGBTs to threaten the sanctity of the natural family and trample on Islamic teachings.
Ustaz Noor Deros, one of our most important traditional learned Al-Azhari local scholar, explains very clearly that “In living our lives according to Allah’s commands and guidance, we reconnect with our family and community. Let the coming of Ramadan remind us of the importance of the family.Let it remind us to return to the natural state of life. Let it remind us to Return to fitrah.

There are groups that are trying to destroy the sanctity of the family. The natural state of human relationships is now under sustained attack by lgbt activists. For the lgbt movement, the natural family is no longer sacred. To underline their disdain for Islam and the family, lgbt activists are organising an event on the very evening of 1st Ramadan. They expect this event to be the biggest ever in their history.”

Another muslim's view :

Bismillah, walhamdulillah, the blessed month of Ramadan is just around the corner, if Allah wills, it will descend on the night of 28th of June around 7pm+.

We ask Allah that He allow us to be among those who will be blessed with His pardon & mercy in that month of rahmah and maghfirah. Amin.

Yet, it seems that there is another group of people who are also looking forward to that day. That very same date and time (5pm-7pm) was chosen by the PINK DOT activists (Lesbian,Gay,Bisexuals & Transexual activists and symphatisers) to organise their biggest event ever. They will come together in thousands to make a call to the Singaporean society to accept LGBT individuals (of course together with their lifestyle) without any kind of discrimination, intolerance nor judgement.

It is important to note here that it is through such nuanced events that the idea, philosophy and lifestyle of LGBT is subtly promoted and normalised, most of the time through the call to accept the VEHICLE (the LGBT individuals).

Oh Muslims! The gates of heavens and mercy will be opened in Ramadan, we do not want It to be blocked by our sins and our inaction towards munkar.

Muslims and straight-minded human beings must stand up and state our stand clearly.

From a Christian pastor:

I’m so happy that Singapore’s Muslim community is making a vocal and visual stand for morality and Family. I fully support the ‘wear white’ campaign. FCBC, together with the LoveSingapore network of churches, will follow suit on the weekend of 28 and 29 June, island-wide. I look forward to celebrating the Family with the Muslim community and I am pleased to partner with them in championing virtue and purity for the good of our nation!

LoveSingapore will also be supporting an online Family campaign called FamFest Singapore (www.facebook.com/FamFestSingapore ). This is a unique FaceBook page by TOUCH Family Services. It promotes the right Family values. It celebrates the contributions of the Family in Singapore.

The family unit is the lifeblood of our nation. The time to stand and defend what is right is NOW.

You think non-Muslims, gay or straight, should adjust their schedules to fit your wonky Islamic calendar? Your stupid Ramadan month jumps all over the Gregorian calendar - sometimes it is near Christmas time.

Yeah, nothing is more important than sucking up to the globalist Jews at Washington DC and pushing forth the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

Don't expect Pinky to get involved in this battle. He cannot risk losing popularity with either the liberal or conservative voters.

Lawrence Khong

I have mentioned this before.

Lawrence Khong's name has appeared in this book:

Also, he has been quite active since the 1990s. Kong Hee and Joseph Prince are the Johnny-come-lately businessman pastors who arrived much later.

Everyone should read this book, it is quite enlightening. One of the better non-fiction books out there.
