The reality is that the M-16 is better weapon in most areas. Its made of much better quality and to a higher standard. Its a very versatile weapon. You can hang a M203 Grenade launcher on it, laser sights, telescopic sights, infra red, etc on the picatinny rail. Its lighter and a more accurate over the same distance as an AK. U never see AKs with telescopic sights. And seldom with grenade launchers. With the M-16, you can put a silencer at the end of the barrel, as well as fire rifle grenades on it. Its a much more versatile weapon. the AK has a better killing power due to a higher velocity round and a larger calibre, and is considered more rugged. But that is offset by its weight, recoil, and lack of versatility.

Russian equipment is designed never to fail or jam even in the harshest environment or conditions,even under high usage and extreme wear and tear.it also doesnt require highly specialised parts for replacement or ammo.u can drop it in m&d or run over it with a truck it will still work.the function of the ak is to kill simple as that.russian machines are workhorses,there are videos of russian trucks crossing roaring rivers 3/4 submerged without a hitch.there are also stories of us soldiers dropping their american rifles for soviet ones in vietnam due to frequent jamming and misfire in the jungle conditions.u need your weapons to work in times when u need it most,not to be jamming and going iaia.
