As we can see from the above photos, the entire market and the sheltered walkways leading to it are lined with the national flags.
In stark contrast, few flags are seen hanging from the HDB flats (both new and old) in the vicinity.
There is one remarkable photo we took of an old lady pushing a cart full of cardboard slowly past two national flags hung along a walkway.
We caught up with her and asked a few questions:
