The PA was born out of the ashes of the disintegration of the PAP in 1960s when the left wing faction broke away and formed the Barisan Sosialis. BS then took away everything the PAP had - furniture, light bulbs, and of cos the most essential thing, the grassroots infrastructure that propelled them into power, but always and only when Lim Chin Siong raised his little finger.

With the falling out, the PAP was in shambles, and Dr. Goh Keng Swee, Raja and LKY were in tears. It was only Dr. Toh Chin Chye who whipped and whupped them back into life to rebuild the support structure that is now PA. So PA has always been a PAP organ. Ditto NTUC when the SATU was banned.
