An independent Muslim boarding school has failed its Ofsted inspection after a book calling for gay people to be killed was found in its library.

Inspectors said the text, named ‘Islam on Homosexuality’, had been stamped as a library book by the Institute of Islamic Education in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire.

Ofsted stated in its report that the book included ‘sections on punishment of individuals because of their sexuality and views which contradict the rule of law’.

Pointing towards examples, the government department referred to wording in the text which said that ‘participants of the homosexual act should be slained (sic) whether they are married or unmarried’.

It also mentioned a paragraph entitled ‘putting to death’, which included a statement saying that ‘the evil doers should be put to death’.

When questioned about the book, the headteacher said it should not be within the school’s library, but other leaders stated that it was for ‘research’ purposes, according to the report….

It is not the first time the school has attracted controversy, either, after an investigation in 2016 found pupils were forbidden from watching TV, listening to music or reading newspapers.

Before that, it made headlines for achieving a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating, despite policies banning students from ‘socialising with outsiders’, which would then lead to ‘expulsion if there is no improvement after cautioning’….
