Tendency to hyperbolise and overdramatise by using alarmist words like dangerous. Dangerous as in what? Falling off the cliff and breaking bones and dying? For God's sake, it's only peasants' wages, and they have a right to be paid their dues. Their wage levels are below their productivity levels for years!!

Saying about ministers having low producitivty is an honour to them. Their productivity didn't even exist. Look at LHL, how many times in a year has he been holidaying. Besides, he delegated his work so much that when he died, nobody cares whether he is needed in Singapore.

The Singapore worker has his fate sealed for life. Singapore must be the only country in the world where no one speaks up for the workers. Especially, the union chief speaks louder for the govt and bosses than for the workers he supposedly represents. Sad day for workers. May Day, May Day!

What is Productivity?

Higher productivity benefits the bosses, it may not benefit the workers !
The boss would say it is the job of his workers to be productive ! So what !

from his talk, he is trying to chide singaporeans for being lazy !

productivity is not main factor of increasing wages.

Govt play a big role in increasing wages for all singaporeans when their wages are superscaled !

I agree with the PM. He's very astute when it comes to analysing complex issues thanks to his Cambridge education and his intelligence.

Was there productivity when his cabinet was so bloated with deadwoods like MM, SM, DPMs, Ministers in PM Office - most of whom were twiddling their thumbs earning fatcat salaries & making mistakes after mistakes like WKS, RL, MBT, YcT, ad infinitum. Who footed the bill? Many got away without facing the consequences of their incompetence like Saw Phiak Hwa..... fuck up SMRT so bad that it will take a billionbucks n decades to fix!

Our reward system stank and still stinks!

Ask any worker working for the SME about what their bosses will tell them when its time to give out bonus and salary increments. The SME bosses will always tell them that the company is not making money (or making not much money) year in year out. So will the govt send their experts to these companies, measure the workers' productivity and demand the bosses to shut up and pay according to the productivity?

When ministers asked for 200% pay rise, LHL said it is good for the people woh! "Bam, Bam, Bam"...how dangerous it is for Lim Chong Ya to apply similar logic for our workers..."BAM, BAM, BAM.." No good for business and workers if Singaporeans asked for pay rise, said LHL. LKY than said, if you don't pay the ministers well, you are getting a dose of incompetent people in parliament..."BAM, BAM, BAM"... On labour days, all these ministers danced and shake pelvis with each other, how so happy of them to see their CPF getting richer by the days everytime they look at their bank statements.

So, is today really the workers day or PAP celebration day?.

Well said. Wages are relative. What productivity are they talking about when you are talking about a purely domestic service?

Remember how GDP on a PPP is computed? Those purely domestic services that cannot be exported the same way as manufactured goods are given purchased power equivalent values in deriving GDP on a PPP basis. But this enjoyment of good services doesn't count for much when you travel overseas with your meagre salaries. So the cost of such domestic services has only a domestic value and affects us domestically. Many of the low level jobs come under this category.
