Horrifying footage of what is said to be a recent plane crash outside the South African capital, Pretoria shot from inside the Convair CV-340 plane has been published online.
The video shows the Rovos Air local flight passing low over the ground as fire is seen coming from its left wing engine, while a passenger says: “This is getting very bad.” The aircraft then hits the ground, and shortly afterwards, passengers are heard and seen recovering from the impact.

The July 10 crash happened near Wonderboom Airport in Pretoria. One person was reported fatally injured in the incident, while the 19 others survived. The plane was about to become a museum piece.

Piston engine propellor plane.who would have thought. Even convair gone bust decades ago. Maybe in the 1960's or early 70's.

Actually propeller planes are safer than jets, and much easier to fly and land especially during emergencies and life threatening moments. Jets are good only for their speed in comparison. In hard and harsh missions people don't trust jets, e.g. Antarctica Explorations. Jets will be actually harder to survive in bad conditions, e.g. Volcanic Eruption Ashes. Propellers survives better.

Propeller planes does not need too many controls surfaces (more things to fail and fuck up & maintain & PAY FOR) Slats, Flaps, Air-breaks, etc. Hence are more reliable and durable.

Jet engines are too vulnerable by their own designs. They will suck any craps like birds, rubbish, balloons, lanterns, runway derbies, even airport workers and airport vehicles and luggages into the jet engines and RUIN THEM. Propellers hardly have such risks, if propellers got struck usually small issues, and have much higher chance to continue to struggle to fly to a safe place to land.

Jet airframes are optimized too much for higher cruise speed and fly high altitudes, when emergency and landing time, at low speed, they are rather stupid and clumsy and vulnerable, and death prone. In bad weather, even more doomed. Propeller planes can take much more abusive harsh condition. In WW1 & WW2 many of them made it back landing after heavy combat damages, half wing gone, half tail gone, 2 out of 4 engines gone, or 3 out of 4 engines gone. Jets very hard to have such chance. Not robust. Too many things to maintain and keep in good working order to function safely, once fucked up, they are not forgiving nor tolerant, you let their demanding engineering specs down, they let you CRASH & DIE.

Simple light gliders, are the best survivors, many fucking pilots can land in trees and climb their ass down the trees alive. Jets? Most corpse burnt until vanish, nothing found!

Apparently you don't know what you're talking about.

I know exactly what I am talking about. I took part in designing and building planes in hobbyist hangers in other country.

The situation of jets managed to land damaged badly is VERY RARE, the opposite thing is simple propeller planes very often can land after combat damages that are crazy, and in a battle, these battle damaged planes can return by dozens. Jets very RARE, if there was one or 2 became big hype propaganda news.

The F-16s are computer controlled fly by wire, it managed to land with big wing damages in just one occasion. There was a case which a jet managed to land itself in a frozen iced cornfield after the KuKu pilot ejected himself because jet went out of control. It did not have damages nor was in combat, just the pilot lost control of it.

Propellers planes shot and blew up full of holes, made it back to base, very common.

Gliders airframes and aerodynamics are the most compatible with difficult and severe landings, and usually pilots are saved, because the frame is most compatible with air and land, they are light and wings with lots of lift, and are SIMPLE with least things to fail. Pilots instead of machines are in better control. Pilots losing control of gliders have best chance to get back control and evade death. With Jets they are the least forgiving, and you have no time to react, and computers fight against you to take over your controls.

You crashed jets, your corpse with be easily in many pieces everywhere and very likely instantly cremated on the spot.

Even when crashed (refer to still image front cover only) the chance of pilot survivor is highest with gliders.
