"In my early years I followed a regime of only eating fish and vegetables similar to Steve Jobs. I felt so much better, could do all activities with a clear mind and physical prowess. Nothing to do with animal rights or religion. At that time a number of people were following the diet and it was quite popular in the 80s. Then some who had followed the diet began knocking off early....
"I personally know this lady who was quite religious about her fish and vegetables and she died of cancer in her 40s. And she was not even Cantonese. Then Steve Jobs."
... I did however note that when I was on fish and vegetable diet, hard-on was Grade A and maximum duration. When back a few times, it was the same after about 4 weeks. Any scientists, pundits, and any man on the street care to throw in your views. "
The issue concerning your Fish & Vegie diet is different to the Vegetarian diet.
First of all we must know a little about Testosterone (male hormone) -- Total vs Free --, Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG), Estrongen (female hormone) and Aromatase enzyme.
SHBG binds to Testosterone hormone in our body (a way of regulation). It is the level of Free (unbond by SHBG) Testosterone that determines a man's sexuality not the Total Level. Aromatase enzyme is in the body's fat cells and is responsible for converting Testosterone to Estrongen. So, the same man when fat would have lower level of T but higher level of E than when he was thin.
Experiments had shown that normal men fed a high fat diet had an increase in T level and a decrease in SHBG levels, whereas a diet low in fat resulted in an increase in SHBG levels and decrease in T level.
So, the oil in the fishes you ate was responsibled for your Grade A hard-on; because your T level went up while SHBG went down.
A diet like this if without enough carbohydrate to produce fat in the body in order to moderate the level of T is the same as putting somebody on steroid for performance enhancement and over sustained period of time would have enlarged organs and glands (e.g. prostate), and could lead to cancer.
The Vegetarian diet is a different matter. First of all, the "good staff" (high fiber) alone is not enough as protein supply and if without fat would cause T level to drop hence causing loss of muscle mass and bone density. However, what really create cancer diseases is the Gluten in the mock-meat, noodle, bread, cake etc. Gluten on high level is very bad for body and could lead to colon cancer and diseases.
The fish diet if taken with care is good for fat people too low on T and high on E as it helps to reduce the body fat, increase T level and lower SBHG, but once the person is no longer fat and too high on Estrogen he shouldnt go on.
The local Vegetarian diet is self-inflicting pain and sucidal.
