How to attract good part-time lecturers if pay is so low?

A FRIEND of mine applied to teach part-time at a local polytechnic. He was told the rate is $70 an hour for a part-time adjunct lecturer. A friend of his confirmed the rate has been the same for the past few years.
Assuming one teaches twice a week, with two hours per lecture, one will get only $1,120 a month.
After taking into consideration inflation and the high cost of living, I wonder if polytechnics here are attracting candidates of right quality as part-time lecturers.
Singapore prides itself as an education hub. But if the pay is so low, how will we ever attract good part-time lecturers? Can something be done so more qualified people will opt to teach part-time at local polytechnics?

2 hrs a session, twice a week. That means only 16 hours a month or equivalent to 2 days work for most of us peasants. $1K for what is essentially 2 days worth for most of us still can complain low. KNN.

If you compare this with what those PRC masseues are getting for half an hour's work, $70 is peanuts.

For some years, I subjected myself to this sort of renumeration rate, believing that some money is better than no money. But the things I had to do for $70 an hour!!

I realised I was a masochistic ass.

Honestly, if i were a chick, I would have found it easier to simply open my mouth and legs. ;)
