Terrex was actually entered in the competition for the Australian contract under the name Sentinel 2, that was won by the Boxer. This is a big cover up at ST. ST modified the standard Terrex to meet the Aussie requirement, like they modified it for the USMC competition. But the fucking thing bloated up to a weight of 35 tons from the standard 25 ton Terrex. It couldn't swim at all, which was a required criteria for the Aussies. Who would build a fucking AFV so fat that it lost its original bouyancy and amphibious capability? Oh wait, the answer to that would be ST!! The Boxer won the contract not only because it met all the Aussie army requirements, but also because Rheinmetall agree to set up assembly line in Australia to build the Boxers. The first 25 Boxers were build in germany and the aussie workers were trained there and the rest of the 211 build was build in Australia.

This is how a smart country develops a modern armour vehicle industrial capability. They let another country come in and set up and train the workers for them, and have them build a proven product. They don't waste tens of millions of $ on R & D. That is done by another country. Nor do they try to develop an unproven vehicle and try to sell it to other countries. this is a business that ST just cannot get into because they have no track record of any of their vehicles being used in battle. For a country with limited engineering talent, we should have done the same thing. After all, they bought 135 Terrex from ST, another country would have agreed to set up an assembly plant here for that number, and we would not have to use our engineers on R & D
The restructured economy has killed the manufacturing, indirectly stop the brilliant students go to study Engineering.

Back in the 1980s.... Those straights A students coached by tuition school using past 10 years series exam questions papers to predict exam questions to come out this year....

Easy.. out of 10 questions , 6 compulsory questions and 4 tikum tikum questions ... last year question won't come out this year.... for sure...

I was the 1st batch to get this past 10 years series examination questions papers and can figure out which 4 tikum tikum questions will come out this year .... got 90% for maths.... no horse run...

SG where got engineering or r&D?

In the SG pte sector, majority of engineers don't do engineering. They do O&M, tender specs, testing, commissioning etc.

Even in maintenance, they are glorified technicians that follow manufacturer sop. Anything more complicated, they fly in amdk expert.

most likely goes to rheinmetall as cost efficiency with some commonality with the boxer contract can sway the sourcing and logistics departments. plus, it’s a trusted relationship for some years with ops, maintenance and service departments. to units and commanders on the ground it’s a more capable and advanced tracked variant to the 8x8 boxer, so there’s some familiarity.

so much superficial specs and marketing material but no mention if it’s water-fordable (what depth) or amphibious or submersible? is there an amphibious variant in the 1st place?

Its not water fordable as far as I know. But very few if not zero armies employ water fording these days. even in Ukraine, which has many rivers, they build bridges to ferry armour across.
