Noise and dust pollutions can be minimized and contained using new methods of construction by covering up the site, hose and spray at the dust with water to minimized dust spreading and much more. Unfortunately most major construction projects in Singapore is from PAP and tenders goes to GLC linked construction companies and complain also no use. PAP is the culprit of noise, dust and traffic congestion near construction sites.
Cheaps imported labours, unchecked long working hours into the night are allowed (close one eye) in GLC construction companies at the expense of nearby residents to tolerate the noise and dust pollution, traffic jam and congestions near construction sites, complain also no use and can only blame the 60.1% voters.
If constuction projects are not from PAP's, and tenders awarded to non-GLC construction companies, you find civil servants like Min of Environ will impose work time restrictions, make private project owners hire and trained Singaporean labour forces for contruction works, set min wage for labours to stop cheap imported labours abuse, reduce nosie and air pollutions, apply traffic management at consturction site and much much more.
PAP whinged that Singaporeans cannot tahan hard labour in contruction jobs which are not true. In case of lost of job or business many Singaporeans can turn to hard labour in construction site for works which can at least put food on the table for their family. Who is afraid of hard labour and why is PAP whinging and who are they bluffing? A bunch of daft PAP? Look at Australia construction sites and you can find the different in noise and air pollutions control, traffic control management at construction sites and the skilled blue collar workers Australia have.

For the last several months, added to the constant noise pollution is the level of dust all over our place. It covers the balcony, corridor, outdoor furniture and plants. Our doors and windows have to be kept closed all the time. The air is polluted with dust, aggravating sinus problems.
I contacted the National Environment Agency many times, went for Meet-the-People Sessions at least three times. Nothing has changed.
I asked a few of my neighbours to join forces to meet the relevant authorities, but they told me they had tried it before and that it was useless.
If HDB allows contractors to do renovation work only within office hours, why is construction work at condominiums allowed beyond these hours?
