Yes, the agents impose high agent fees for bringing in these cheap foreign workers. do u know that the agents even entice employers by ploughing back some of their fees (abt 3 months) back to the employer so as to entice the employer to hire foreign workers?

Do you know that the pap imposes levies on foreign workers. Pay them slave pay but collect levies at their expense. the pap is addicted to such levies...but the pap forgot that these will cost SG dearly in the future.

We must not exploit cheap foreign labour and exploit poorer Singaporeans. We must pay them so that they can survive and feed their families decently. Otherwise, we will have a huge group of Singaporeans who are poor, undernourished with poor health, unskilled, unqualified in the future. That will be a huge burden for Singapore to shoulder.

We must be sympathetic to migrants because they are here to work and make a better life for their families and themselves. I wish them well. But I blame the pap for their selfish motives to exploit cheap migrant labour which will bring in many social problems for SG, Singaporeans and the migrants. PAP's main aims are to grow GDP to benefit themselves and to entrench themselves in power at the expense of migrants and social costs.

If you have the opportunity, speak to some of these migrants and you will know that many of them have been exploited by the agents. They have to fulfil their two year obligations at tremendous costs because they can't afford to be sent back as they have borrowed money to come to the "land of plenty" SG and they are compelled to slave for two years.

I had the opportunity to speak to a cleaner last week. He came from a village in China and has two children, a wife and parents in China. He gets S$500 a month working 8 hrs a day. Accommodation is provided by the agent. His contract is for two years. He sends back $300 a month and uses S$200 a month for his food. He tries to work overtime to abt 10 to 12 hrs per day so that he can get $800 per month to send back more money to his family in China. My heart goes out to him and others like him.

I think SG shd not exploit such labour. We must be gracious and take care of our workers. He is someone's father, someone's son, someone's husband. We dont wish what he has to go through to our loved ones. so we shd not treat him so

This is how the world works! unfortunate but its true. It's been happening for the past 3000 yrs.

In order to for 1 group to overconsume while under-producing; the opposite must happen for someone else.

Global over-consumers of food/energy/clean water/lesiure time/good healthcare - most western nations.

Global under-consumers of the above - almost whole of asia (Work like dog but consumes little)

Its really a zero-sum game.

The over consumers - bankers/developers/ppty agents/Gov
(these are so rich that that can sit around doing nothing and live like a king for many generations)

The underconsumers - basically everyone else.
