Pappies threaten Serangoon-Gdns Voters with 1000 FT workers !

Last GE, huge number of voters at Serangoon Gardens supported Sylvia Lim.
Now the PAPies are taking revenge on these voters by purposely using SGTS to convert to dormitory.
We know well that this secondary school is enclaved by private houses. The school closed down because of less students. This is not a suitable place for dormitory given its proximity to private houses.

This is a classic ruse to intimidate the voters and pretend to solve their problem after their appeal.

No to foreign worker dorm
By Melissa Sim

FOREIGN workers? Not in our neighbourhood.

More than 600 residents of Serangoon Gardens, a private estate in the north-east, have signed a petition against converting an unused school there into a dormitory for foreign workers.

The Ministry of National Development (MND) confirmed that it is assessing whether Serangoon Gardens Technical School can be converted into quarters for foreign workers, although no decision has been made yet.

The school in Burghley Road has been vacant for about four years and can possibly house 1,000 workers.

When residents of the estate, which has more than 2,000 homes, heard the news earlier this week, a petition was started by the residents' committee asking the authorities to reconsider.

The one-page petition said the move would 'create security and social problems and spoil the ambience of the estate'.

'I signed the petition immediately and got 80 of my friends to sign it too,' said retired teacher S. Raja, 69.

MP for Aljunied GRC Lim Hwee Hua said it is 'good that residents are speaking out with an interest' on the issue and encouraged them to give their feedback, which she would convey to MND.

I think govt should make the bangala share bunk with SAF recruits in ITD. This is the only way to confine the rotting smell off the island.

Foreign talent and labour are very important to Singapore. Our island would grind to a halt if we lose them. They deserve to stay in the most exclusive Serangoon Gardens, better still at Oxley Road.

I'm sure the big houses of our ministers and MPs have rooms to spare for some of these workers. But must remember to lock up their amorous kids, wives and maids!
