'Singaporeans think only of themselves.'
MR S. RAMAMIRTHAM: 'This is a classic example of how Singapore is not a gracious society and how Singaporeans think only of themselves and their personal interests as opposed to national interest. It is also a clear-cut case of Singaporeans not appreciating the contributions of foreign workers. The residents of Serangoon Gardens estate fail to appreciate the fact that the foreign workers of today are much more educated than the menial workers who came when Singapore first allowed low-skilled workers in.'

For example, he wrote, "I read with great sadness that Mr J B Jeyaretnam intends to contest the next General Elections", but does not explain why he is "sad". Mr Ramamirtham resides in Bishan, and neither J B Jeyaretnam nor Dr Chee Soon Juan, two people he looks upon with contempt, has stood for elections in that area previously. Why does Mr Ramamirtham feel "sad" when they are not even contesting his ward? If they are not credible as what he claims, surely voters in other constituencies will reject them?

His pieces are ranting and raving without much thought. I think PAP supporters, whom Mr S. Ramamirtham is one, must be wincing in embarrassment over his regular outbursts.

MR KYLE LESLIE SIM: 'We would not be doing our duty by our families, neighbours and friends if we were to just sit back and let things happen. With 1,000 foreign workers living next door, the law of averages suggests that there will be a few bad apples. All it takes is one act of foolishness or madness by a foreign worker to perhaps destroy a life or a family. One writer criticised us for behaving like White supremacists. But it is pertinent to remember that African Americans were discriminated against by fellow Americans. We are not discriminating against Chinese Singaporeans, Malay Singaporeans, Indian Singaporeans or Eurasian Singaporeans. 'No one else is responsible for our security and well-being' - a national education message no less. Having to hurt the feelings of some is a small price to pay to ensure our safety.'

The boomerang has hit back. S'poreans have been conditioned to be parochial in their concerns, to care only for their own narrow interest, such as HDB estates upgrading, new facilities and amenities in their own constituencies, their property values and to forget about what is good for the nation.

All these election tactics have come back to haunt the PAP govt.

how come serangoon residents dont request for extra patrols by NS slaves carrying automatic machine guns with safety off ? If a blanga misbehavior , then next moment it fly the corpse back to blangadash.

why don't they relocate those bangala to bukit timah? alot of jungle for those FT to play
