the govt collects a lot of revenue. it must learn to live within its means rather than keep thinking of ways to tax Singaporeans. the budget given to social services is pittance compared to the wastage the pap splashed in other areas

There's another way they can raise funds - by decreasing costs.
There are a few ministars who are not doing anything really useful.
The savings on their salaries and related costs like bodyguards can be used to fund the projetcs.
There may even be some left over.
Now which ministar should make way for useful projects?

After collecting so much taxes, CPF and our Housing loan, ERP....etc, there is a problem with PAP managing our funds resulted in fund-no-enough. I suspect all the ministries are over-spending, top management overpaid, and not prudent. Besides, each ministries have their own clubs, sub-ministries to service and most of them are truly redundant so-to-speak. Take PA for example, of all the CC, RC and still have grassroot clubs and god knows what other clubs need to be serviced daily with tax payers money. The whole PAP systems has become a snake with too many legs. Puzzling!

The only way PAP knows how to address any issue or problem is to increase taxes or fees or charges or levies. This had been the approach for a very long time already and will continue to be so as long as LKY is still around. Any govt can do that. But we certainly don't expect a govt that is so well damn paid and claimed to be an A Team to lack of creativity in solving issues/problems isn't it. LKY had said that best way to teach S'poreans is to give us a dose of mediocre govt. He don't realise that we already have a mediocre govt, in fact, we been having it for years, just that their failed policies are surfacing fast and furious now.

exactly..there are a lot of wastage in some ministries. the pap has to exercise financial prudence over such wastage.

Frankly, Singaporeans have to hold the pap accountable for the money spent from taxes, levies, etc...

You earn $1k just enough to live but kana tax 7% you die. You die die have to be slave or beggar to gov to survive.

You earn $10k only need $5k to live and kana 7% also wont die. Just a little pain but still can live as you like.

Then the super rich with big company can file accounting and tax claim to claim back GST.

Collecting money, many way. See they how smart only. Hold a lottery every month, sell a social spending bond, so many ways man. Hold a charity event. We know what is happening. But direct tax is cheap excuse.
