Have a friend in the US that had a bypass, the whole ops cost around almost Usd200k.
Though he did have to co pay, almost 20k
His insurance took care of the rest.

Medical fees in the US is very expensive....
It's not surprising you have old folks in the USA being bankrupted because of the high fees.....

tell me about it. it's ridiculous. have friends who are retired with millions in assets. at 65 they rely on medicare but they forget to supplement basic medicare with additional insurance to cover 100% of hospitalization. it's the unplanned and unforeseen warding into a&e and subsequent hospitalization that can wipe their savings and assets. basic medicare (plan a) pays 80% of hospital bills which is relatively good and high coverage. but if the hospitalization bill hits $2m, the medicare plan-a patient still needs to pay $400k out of pocket. to avoid catastrophic bills, medicare patient needs to spend another $14k-$18k per year or a plan-b to have 100% hospitalization coverage. without 100% coverage for hospitalization, a 90% coverage can still wipe out half a million-dollar savings and or cash account if bill for a one-time visit exceeds $5m.
