PAP Spin - Several foreign firms prepare to leave S'pore

That could mean a property bubble spiraling out of control. Not necessarily something to boast about.

Perhaps, the PAP should take some time to reflect exactly where the so called investments have been parking themselves. If the so called foreign investment monies are parked and not adding to any economic activity in this country other than chasing up the prices of housing in this country, why is that a good thing for the citizens of this country?

Besides all the scare mongering that has been going on shows the dichotomy which is this country's economy, on the one hand the country is boasting of huge investment monies flowing here. on the other, very little growth, employment or economic activity is being generated despite this fact. if that is the case, then here is something very wrong here. these monies being parked here should be for a purpose beneficial for the country otherwise we are not better than a bank that doesn't do anything other than taking deposits and chasing the overall interest rates lower.

The PAP better come out with a better plan because this tax and money laundering haven thing is starting to turn things a little awry like how the British economy had experienced.

NothIng to worry about. It does not affect the lesser mortal citizens in term of jobs. Only affect PAP's GDP KPI, hence bonus only.

I recently requested a meeting with a global MNC with big HQ in Sinapore to explore partnership in pursuing business in regional countries.

Guessed what ? The entire team came for meeting. All from same village (no need to guess which country). All knows nuts about the region! Needless to say, is a wasted trip for me.

Good riddance for these so-called MNC companies!

Today, Novartis just give these clowns a good slap by announcing the setting up of a new US$500M biotechnology facility in Singapore. Their locally based FT president openly said that Singapore skilled workforce is one of the main reason for setting up here and there are other qualities beside skilled workforce that prompt them to be here.

For those MNCs or business that are here to exploit the cheap labor and to con EDB of financial grants, it should be good riddance. Better they get lost then stay around and suck our blood. Good corporation leaders do not make decision just based on one criteria. If they abandon Singapore just because of the restriction of foreign labor, it just goes to show that they don't have good business acumen nor a viable business plan.

Just another scare tactic!

Why does the PAP govt allow MNCs and foreign businesses to come in to operate here and then employ foreign labour instead of Singaporeans? If these companies want to go, fine let them pack up.

Another often heard argument is that we must allow foreigners in to create jobs for locals. Well, surely there must be enough foreigners here to create jobs, but do you feel that more jobs have been created? Local PMETs are as unemployed as ever.

This departure is a good thing then as it forces existing companies to move up the value chain and use more PMET sinkees and increase capital use.

Decades of cheap wages have only resulted in lowering our standard of living and pushing up inflation - a double whammy.

Didn't it occur to u that if these foreign companies leave Singapore, Singaporeans working in those companies will also suffer?

I don't believe you. You cant possibly be a substantial business owner or move in business circles not to know the situation now.
