Ang Wei Neng, MP for Jurong GRC, suggested that the Ministry of Education should send Singaporeans on compulsory trips to poor communities in neighbouring countries in order to show them how lucky they are to live in Singapore.

Mr Ang believes that such a trip, although it may be expensive, would be “money well spent” because it will generate “a wind of gratitude”.

I think they should make it mandatory for the PAP & their family to do community service in these neighbouring poorer communities. The PAP are isolated in their ivory towers & have developed an entitlement mentality. They are so out of touch that a couple of hundred thousand is considered as peanuts.

We must send his son and daughter for trips collecting cupboard all over this red dot with the old lady. What happen if his son or daughter got mugged or got severe case of food poisoning in this 4th World village. Will my kids be able to handle that ? Will the teachers be able to handle that ? What happen if my sons and daughter die there ? Can we sue MOE , the teachers and the Organisers for negligence ? Moreover, if you really want kids to appreciate Singapore more by your methodology. We need to send them for this kind of "boot camp" for a year at least. They will then be able to live and breath how the villages live and lead their lifestyle in this conditions. Other then that, it a bloody waste of time, money and effort.
