sinkie get loans from car because the car is too expensive. instead of lowering the price of cars to allow more financial prudence, the put a cap on loans while still making the price of car skyhigh.. can i called this PAP hypocrisy.

Does the rich cares, or even knew about existence of COE or ARF? If their garage has a gap or a new model launched, they get their ahmad to go buy a car to fill it up! It is all about face.


Those get hit badly are the lower income ppeople who really need a car to earn a living.

No need lah. Some rich folks just buy a car without COE and permanent park in their bungalow. Anyway one or two super car is good enough. Who don't know the price of GCB? No need to use cars to pump up image. This is call draw snakes, add legs.

Yes on paper it looks like the rich getting screwed but fact is the truly rich ones won't be bothered.
It's the have nots and wannabes that are getting screwed.

No pity on those have nots and wannabes. Car is not necessity here, unlike in Malaysia. Loads of people live without cars in major cities like Tokyo, London, HK and NYC.

Good riddance to those who pushed up COE prices with full car loans.

There are very very few people that really need a car to make a living. The biggest portion of those are driving a company car anyway.

You mean taxis? Agree, very very few people must have cars to make a living. Even for disabled on wheel chairs are traveling on their own in buses and trains. So why can't perfectly healthy people use public transport?

Many car owners in Singapore are buying face instead of a car. Status symbol is more important than anything else to many sinkies.

Thats why people buy European cars. They are simply not worth it, overated.

ordinary people still can afford, just that they aren't allowed to loan too much. those who are prudent with their savings should still be able to afford a car and enjoy cheaper COE in the months to come.

we are actually going back to the 90s era where minimum downpayment is 30% and maximum loan tenure is 7 years.

That should be the way. The dealers won't bid for COE anyhow.

Taxis are company cars. So a cheaper COE will likely meant lower rate of increase to their taxi rentals.

And potential car owners will think twice before dumping their hard earned money to pay for car down payment. Even if one can afford 50% down payment, the psychological hurdle will be much higher than zero dollar drive away deals.
