If you had at the last Chinese new year visited your friends or relatives at this small east part of Sinkapore which is under East coast GRC, you sure heard some rumors about the respective Town Council is working poorly at this estate right ! If you took their lifts and toured the surroundings, you definitely shook head !
Familiar hawker ctes like 85, 59, 216, 16, etc, you could hear rumors fly everywhere ! These eating places are not like in their past where good food and cheap food were aplenty,
these PAP- days public landlords and hawkers are getting greedy, food price is also runaway at this east country side.

Across the Bedok North street , blocks of flats clad with red and yellow signs are speck-and-span right ! Residents witness hardworking WP MPs spot -check their estate’s cleanliness and other maintenance issues. Just imagine, the mother of all pong is also where you could find these hardworking WP MPs making sure the bin centers are well cleaned. This has been an envy eversince 2011 from the near bank of Bedok North street right !
A gutter scheme that supposed to brainwash voters that MPs need to check the drains has now become an asset to WP, they now run town councils like a breeze with ground experience which all PAP MPs lack of !
Of course at Bedok south, those flats near the PAP HQ are lucky enough right ! The cleaning supervisors and contractors cannot wayang there !
The worst part of Bedok north !
Teem with many 3 room flats, and many very old flats !
May be this Town council thinks these flats are all lived with uneducated people , so can bullied easily right ! Residents say when they complain, they see the worst things to come. Supervisors ride bicycles around but only wayang wayang. The contractors put one FT worker to serve 2 to 3 blocks of flats, you see, sure die one. We Don’t say, you also can imagine how dirty the estate will become right ! They say lifts are very dirty, lift lobbies are worst like 10 years never washed.
Funny, they collect conservancy fees , and why are they not following their schedules and repairing damages ? Besides, you may realize every block of flat at PAP wards got their MP photo on the notice board to showcase but residents get to see him or her only once in 5 years time
Now, what are the RC members for?
RC is called resident committee , comprises of residents, the number can go up to 30 members, very big gang right ! But what are they for? To serve the MP or residents and estate ?
Their names are also on the notice board for residents to read.
You see, at PAP ward, RC members usually get the place cleaned up nicely when their MP is visiting that place, so what is PAP MP doing, running town council or just a RC’s idol ?
In fact, when certain blocks of flats are not well maintained or cleaned up on daily basis , RC members should serve the community by informing the affected Town councils , this is supposed the right thing to do right ! In return of good benefits, these RC members should reciprocate for the good of the estate they live.
We heard Rc members season car -park ticket can use all over sinkapore HDB carparks, is it true ?
In this case, many Bedok RC members may be just putting their names on the list for personal agenda right ! This truth is on the ground for you to find out .
Anyway, do you guys know how these RC members are elected? Do you guys receive any information on when and where the AGM is held among the blocks of flats that are involved to elected RC members ?
Bedok is under East Coast GRC, even if the respective PAP MPs sense that they would lose this GRC next GE , or split into single wards also lose, they should at least serve the residents whole heartedly , do things like WP MPs do, check the estate until time is out, be gentlemen right ! Still got 3 years to take big pay what !
Bedok people under this TC should raise issues with their MPs if they are not making sure the contractors and supervisors are working well for the estate’s cleanliness and maintenance.
Also, the scheme for electing residents to become RC members should also be reviewed , the big question is what are they representing if they are called residents committee ?
No one would bother if let say you have another committee called PAP committee members at every estate, but RC is irony if members are not serving the residents, when Blocks of flats are dirty and surroundings are not well maintained !
HDB is the owner, residents are leaseholders, Town council is an agent, MPs run town councils, RC should be the eyes and ears of the estates and residents and not just to serve the MPs becos MP runs town council, he or she is part of the council, his or her jobs entail him or her to check estate’s well being and not being served by the RC members right !

We strongly believe Bedok Residents under this council should talk to their PAP MPs personally if they are short –changed by the town council . One block of flats could easily collect from 8k to 10k of money a month, it is morally wrong not to upkeep the estate !
Affected residents should write to the respective PAP MP, and if this MP sidelines or throw the feedback in the dustbin, so be it, the residents oredi have done your job. Let the divine do the conscience on these ungrateful people.
There is no wonder why bedok people are waiting for next GE when they gaze across the Bedok north street where people there smile under the hammer !
Based on the ground, We also believe East Coast GRC will go under the hammer after 2016. How big the margin PAP will lose will depend on how they serve the Bedok residents .
Meanwhile, those affected Bedok residents may have gotten 3 long years to suffer if they sidelined, tragic right !
We do not wish to suggest boycotting the conservancy fees becos the Town- council Workers need salaries to feed their families. Hopefully , humane thought begets good return for Bedok residents.
