people who believe LTK won in 91 because he a teochew need to have their brain check. It a lousy excuse by pap to explain the loss. JBJ cannot speak a word of any chinese langagues to save himself also can win in chinese majority Anson.
the actual reason was the pap mp fail to help many of the ex punggol farmers who suffering from decrease in income ever since forced to relocate by pap in the name of redevelopment. resentment remain deep until now.
reflect back to 2011, GY also mention this to the media but nobody pick in up. he speak of being ignore by residents during his walkabout during his tenure as mp for the punggol-bedok reservoir division. but the number there is much smaller as majority were relocated to ave 5 & 7.
for your info, i not a teochew but was born in punggol. So even LTK speak martian also not a factor in my decision to vote WP in the past.
