A FILIPINO couple who committed a series of thefts in the Orchard Road and Vivo City area has been arrested.
The couple, a 28-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man, targeted items left unattended by shoppers at shopping malls and eateries, a police statement said on Thursday.
After several probes and numerous stakeouts, police spotted the couple behaving suspiciously at a hotel along Orchard Rd on Aug 28.
The couple was caught red handed when they took a handbag left unattended on a chair at the hotel's coffee outlet.
The victim's belongings, valued at about $1,000, were recovered intact.

The couple will be charged on Friday for theft. If convicted, they face a maximum of three years in jail and a fine.
