PAP finally cave in to every request?

This government finally nearly caved in to every request of the opposition over the years. That's shrewd. The PAP will win big by listening. The worry is we were told over the years we can't afford them, so the question is how will they be paid. The PM admitted as much that the cost will grow over time and Medisave is going up soon. We have seen how it grew in other countries. To me this NDR is more significant for what was unsaid than said. That's is the simplest way to look good. Not much talk about public transport.

What's amazing is that this govt waited so long before announcing the plan to close down paya lebar airbase. This plan alone will answer the worries on insufficient land for population growth. So why did this govt announce 6.9 mil target without the paya lebar plan, which has been rumored for decades.

I can only suspect that pinky had intended to squeeze 6.9 mil without using paya lebar land, but this plan obviously back fired. Pinky had wanted sinkies to live in tiny homes like the honkies so that he can plan for 9 mil population with paya lebar land.

With the closure of the Paya Lebar airbase, I can guarantee you that the revised population target will be higher than the 6.9 million.

Anyway it doesn't matter whether they close this or shift that. The fact is that the population density in Singapore is too damn high. No amount of infrastructure building will change this mathematical fact. Reduce the population or acquire more land.

True, but also the paya lebar land which is almost surrounded by oppo wards will house hundreds of thouands of new voters in 2 or 3 GE's time, and new boundary lines will be drawn to include Aljunied grc to dilute the fast growing oppo votes there.

I believe they only realised this in the last GE, PE and BE. So we haven't got much time left.
