In the 1980, Singapore are doing very very well, we do not need foreigners, the locals alone can support economy to grow by double digit every years.
over time as the govt gets stronger and wealther, they starts to expand into foreign region, at the same time, globalisation was transforming the world, our govt found that they need more talents to help them in this global battle. PAP govt were formed by scholars or the so call elites, however many do not have experience in the global corporate world as technology was transforming the entire earth.
The leaders have faint idea of what happening in this world, first we have microchip technology revolutionize the way we live, from radio to walkman to CD to MP3, from CCTV to plasma to LCD TV . . . . our generation withness the greatest revolution in human history, then came the internet, from 13k modem to 56k dialup to boardband internet access. After which we see the revolution of apple, Andriod and wireless broadband, GPS taking the world and Singapore by storm.
Many PAP leaders who have no idea how a radio works, still go "kuku" over iphone applications, the revolution of technology had cause the mighty PAP to humble themselves infront of foreigners, as they accepted that this world are far too complex for scholars or some study worms to master, however to stay in competition, PAP decided to engage the world by recruiting foreigners.
In the following years, with huge cash, PAP bought many companies and started many ambiguous projects which Singaporeans alone cant do, so they recruited foreigners to manage their ambiguous projects. At the same time, more projects were added and more ambiguous expansion into foreign lands, local govt companies just grow and grow and grow. More foreigners were recuited to build offshore projects and into banking and finance sector, all the govt linked companies just cant stop growing and growing.
As of today there are 2 million foreigners working in Singapore. Of course PAP govt are very happy bec these foreigners are core to their business expansion and ambiguous projects. What about the three millions Singaporeans? If I am the the govt I cant be bothered, with talented new blood from oversea, what spend so much on local educations, housing and benefits? Foreigners have no obligations and can start work immediately.
As of today, with the foreigners sinking deep into the vein of Singapore, Singapore is doomed, led by the foreigners on the nose and can't survive without them. Imagine the 2 million foreigners leave singapore, who to continue to their projects, who to fill the vacancies left by the foreigners?
Therefore, my fellows Singaporeans, my view is that foreigners are here to stay and PAP govt will continue to promote more foreigners to come to Singapore.
