Lawyer Jeannette Chong-Aruldoss questions the "one-time assistance of S$500" featured on PAP's Marine Parade GRC candidate's flyers - The Online Citizen
Jeannette Chong-Aruldoss, a lawyer and former member of the Singapore People’s Party (SPP) took to Facebook on Friday (3 July) to question the flyers being handed out by People’s Action Party (PAP) Marine Parade GRC candidate Edwin Tong which features a “one-time assistance of $500”.
Ms Chong-Aruldoss, who is volunteering for the Workers’ Party at the Marine Parade GRC, wrote: “ONE-TIME ASSISTANCE OF $500″ is printed on the Call-To-Vote flyer from the PAP Candidate along with the PAP logo and the Candidate’s photo and GE2020 media handles. There is even a QR Code to view PAP’s Joo Chiat Manifesto.”
She then asked, “Curious as to why the PAP Candidate decided to mention this assistance sum of $500 as a subheadline in his election flyer. Won’t voters be led to believe that voting for him in the coming GE2020 would come with such a benefit?”
“Where does this money actually come from?” she added.
Mr Tong is contesting in Marine Parade GRC alongside Tan Chuan-Jin, Seah Kian Peng, Dr Tan See Leng and Fahmi Aliman. They are up against the Workers’ Party’s Nathaniel Koh, Fadli Fawzi, Ron Tan, Yee Jenn Jong and Azhar Abdul Latip.
